VIDEO: Dangers Related to Doors – Hand and Finger Injuries

Danger:

Door hinges can be dangerous, especially to younger children which are not properly supervised.  Fingers can be pinched, crushed or AMPUTATED at the hinged end of doors.  Each year it is estimated there are nearly 300,000 door-related finger injuries world wide.  Many include serious injuries such as broken bones and amputation.  We saw one study which said that 40 tons per sq/inch of pressure occurs in the door hinge.

Solution:

For doors in higher traffic areas (especially restrooms), consider Door Hinge/Finger Protectors.  Many products exist and some can be cost effective and easy to install.  See your franchisor for a further list of products, but the below video should help educate you more on the dangers in the meantime.
